After months of meticulous planning, Power and Infrastructure Resourcing (PIR) worked in collaboration with SPL Powerlines UK over a nine-day blockade in late December 2024. Over the busy festive period, PIR supported the safe completion of works, consisting of the South of Bedford OLE 125 Compatibility Project between St Pancras and Luton.
During the blockade, the team worked 24 hours a day to ensure Midland Main Line was accessible to all passengers and freight on 30th December 2024. The works included:
- 53 x Head span replacements
- 1 x Portal transfer
- 20 x wire runs re-tensioned
- 43 x Cantilevers installed
- 2 x Contact Wires Replaced
- 2 x Catenary Wires Replaced
- 125 Cantilever Adjustments
- 12 x Bridge Arms Installed
- 3 x Balance Wheels Installed
- 100 x C Jumpers Installed
- Triple pole disconnector commissioned at Borehamwood ATFS
